Referred to as "The White City", Ostuni's buildings were originally coated with the iconic white limestone paint during The Plague, due to the paint's antibacterial properties. Today, these whitewashed buildings, cobbled streets, and ancient piazzas are a beautiful theme of the hilltop city.
