Getting to Ostuni
The closest town to the venue is Ostuni, and there are many accommodation options in and around the town (more on that in the Accommodations section). To get to the area from the US, you will most likely fly to Rome or Naples, and then fly on to Bari or Brindisi airports. From Europe you can likely get flights directly to Bari/Brindisi. Brindisi is closer to Ostuni, but you can get a train to Ostuni Station from either airport and then take a taxi. Alternatively, you can rent a car from Bari or Brindisi airport (which we recommend).
Getting to the Venue on Wedding Day
We are arranging transportation for you to and from the wedding. There will be predesignated pick up and drop off points, which we will include here once we know them.
Getting Around
There is no Uber or Lyft so we highly recommend a car rental depending on how much you want to explore. If you are staying in Ostuni, don't care to explore outside the town, and have no trouble walking, the town is very walkable. There are some taxis, but sometimes they are not available. On the wedding day, transportation to the venue will be prearranged by us.
Accomodations
We recommend booking your accommodations ASAP, as many hotels are already booking up. Ideally you should plan to stay in or around the town of Ostuni, but if you rent a car the region is easy to traverse, with each town being 20-30 minutes from the next. Our travel agent has pre-reserved some room blocks at local hotels/B&Bs, and there are many B&Bs and hotels in the area. You can reserve with the travel agent, directly with your choice, or via AirBnB.
Parking in Ostuni
If you are staying in Ostuni, ask your AirBnB or hotel to give you instructions for driving there and street parking, and you shouldn't have an issue. When we visited in October we had no issue finding parking according to our AirBnB host's instructions and were able to walk through the town easily, so we didn't need to move the car many times each day.
If you want to visit Ostuni for the day and don't want to try street parking, you can pay for parking in the municipal pay and display car park at Impasto Napoletano Pizzeria, or the one opposite the Confraternita del Carmine Church between Via Salvatore Tommasi and Via Giosuè Pinto. There are pay and ticket machines, for which you will need to input your car registration number. Do not pay any individuals; just use the machines. Another option is parking around the Parco Rimembranze.
Avoid Ostuni’s ZTL (“Zone a Traffico Limitato”), zones of restricted travel, usually near historic old town centers (particularly the one which runs along Corso Vittoria Emanuele II, past the Sant’Ornzo column and along the Piazza della Libertà into Corso Giuseppe Mazzini). Only the local residents and registered vehicles are authorized to drive there. Stray into it even by accident and you will get a hefty fine via cameras, that the car rental company will charge you for.
If you visit Pogliano a Mare, there are blue parking spaces, which means they are metered and you need to pay, and there are white, which are free. Don't park anywhere else.
